A Simpler Way

A few quotes from Myron Kellner-Rogers that Liza Sitton-Taylor captured during her conversation with Myron:

*The only thing keeping us stuck is what we resist.
*We become what we ignore.
*Let go of defending against your neuroses.
*The cure for burnout is not rest but wholeheartedness.
*There’s no such thing as information overload, there’s just a meaning shortage.
*No learning happens when evaluation is present.

Another interesting thing is that the systems model Myron uses has 9 circles:
*The first set of three = systems, structures and processes.
*The second set of three = identity (who are we now?), relationships and information.
*The third set of three are: meaning, trust and action.

We would expect predictability from the first set, but this isn’t so because it really depends on the second and third sets. How does the system make meaning? It has to do with the identity and its relations with the environment. He also talked about how the self of the collective arises and is especially interested in how you access that collective self.

The coolest new feature on BookTour: Auto-favorites

[http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheLongTail/~3/141612509/the-coolest-new.html The coolest new feature on BookTour: Auto-favorites]:

Like any other startup, we’ve adding new feature nearly every day on [http://booktour.com BookTour]. But my favorite is one that we added last week. You know the music services, such as [http://www.sonicliving.com Sonic Living], that’can scan your iTunes or LastFM’libraries and then automatically tell you (via emails or RSS feeds) when’your favorite’bands are coming to your town? We wanted to do the same for books and authors.

So now if you go to your Profile page on BookTour.com, you can enter your Amazon login info and we’ll automatically look up all the books you’ve ever bought and add those authors to the list you’re tracking. If any of them are coming to your area to give talks or other appearances, we’ll send you an email or include it in your RSS feed. And you can always use the service to ping those authors and ask them to come speak to your company, organization or just book club while they’re in town.

How cool is that?!

(BTW, we don’t keep your Amazon info. The site just opens a secure connection to Amazon, fetches the books from your order history, and then closes the connection and discards the login info. That means you have to enter’the login’again when you want to refresh your favorites list in a few months, but it also ensures that your login information can never be compromised.)

Time & the Technosphere

O.a. over het Aloha-project. Cool.

Zie ook de [http://www.lawoftime.org/ Foundation for the Law of Time]. Veel plezier.

En omdat ik vandaag in [http://www.mystiek.nl/ Mystiek] toch al een paar boeken meenam, heb ik hier meteen maar [http://www.nl.bol.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/nl/-/EUR/BOL_DisplayProductInformation-Start?BOL_OWNER_ID=1001004001801379&Section=BOOK_EN Time & the Technosphere]—The Law of Time in Human Affairs van [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Arguelles José Argüelles] gekocht. €22.95.

Hoe wij God kunnen ervaren

Hoe-wij-God-kunnen-ervaren.gif

Coming Up – World’s First ‘Zero-Carbon’ City

A city free of cars, pedestrian-friendly, powered by renewable energy and surrounded by wind and photovoltaic farms—all in the middle of a petroleum-rich desert.

This five billion US dollar plan, which might do credit to a sci-fi film set, is envisaged for Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). When complete, in 2009, it will be the nearest thing yet to a zero-carbon, zero-waste city. Using the traditional planning principles of a walled city, together with existing technologies to achieve sustainable development, this six sq km expanse will house an energy, science and technology community.
